Ghestem |   |
| Q | Can you explain what Ghestem is? |
| A | Mr. Pierre Ghestem invented the Monaco system, which was the original relay system, and used with Mr. Rene Bacherich in several world championship tournaments in the 50's and 60's. The main purpose of the relays (and some transfers) is to make the stronger hand be declarer. The system used by Mr. Rene Bacherich and Mr. Pierre Ghestem was a very artificial relay system, called Monaco, and has had few adherents. |

Limit Raise Length |   |
| Q | Do you need 3 spades or 4 spades to respond with a limit raise? 1   3 with 10 to 12 points.
|
| A | The limit raise is predicated on having 4 Spades. With only 3 find another bid. Our set of Limit Bids Bidding Cards goes into detail on 40 different bids and what type of point count and suit length are needed for each one. Give them a try today. |

Preempt with Side Suit? |   |
| Q | I was taught to open 3 diamonds with a 7 card suit with less than 10 highcard points regardless of whether or not you have a 4 card major on the side . These new people insisted that if you have a 4 card major on the side you can't preempt. |
| A | The problem with preempting with a 4 card major on the side is that the bidding is so high that when it gets around to partner they are afraid to bid a 4 or 5 card major because the bidding is so high. You could have an 8 or 9 card major fit. Plus if you do, it's better to have you long suit as a side suit. Just draw trump, ruff a couple of your suit and now you can run your long suit and throw off losers from the other hand. |
